About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading. It started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: technology, entertainment, and design.

TED's mission is spreading ideas. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.

Who we are

Following the “revival” of TEDxUCDavis, we want to start looking towards the future. The future is a mystery which we unravel in due time; however, many of us seek the stepping stones that will lead us to success, happiness, and fulfillment.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized and are subject to certain rules and regulations.
